Ed’s Story

In 1999 Ed severed his spinal cord which left him a paraplegic wheelchair user. Whilst undergoing rehabilitation, he decided to dedicate his working life as a solicitor to create a business to help people rebuild their lives after serious injury. He set about crafting an organisation that was driven by a vision of putting the client at the heart of everything they did. With this purpose he surrounded himself with brilliant people who shared those values to build a diverse, culture-focused business which grew to become the UK’s largest dedicated injury law firm. ·As CEO he achieved x 10 growth in turnover, profit and on the balance sheet.

·Fletchers was the only legal services firm to be included in the Sunday Times/BDO Top 100 most profitable privately-owned businesses in 2019.

·25 years + experience of building, innovating, and operating in the highly regulated environments of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

·The Law Society’s Excellence in Practice Management Award: Fletchers was the first company in England and Wales to win this prestigious award.

·LEXCEL is the Law Society’s practice management stamp of excellence. Fletchers retained this accreditation for over 10 years by successfully passing an annual independent review and rigorous assessment.

Innovation

·Constantly innovating, Fletchers were one of the first law firms in the country to convert into a limited company from the traditional partnership model.

·The first law firm to embrace a multi-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with a university (Liverpool University Computer Sciences Department) which produced a fully developed software solution for the business, the legal sector and with the potential to license into other substantial markets such as the USA.

·Worked at a national level with both the Civil Justice Council to develop a streamlined litigation process for medical negligence matters and with NHS Resolution in a pioneering pilot scheme for low value cases to ensure fast, fair resolution.
